Deep Roots + Local Expertise
Our Colorado team is led by Heyday’s Principal Agent, Lisa Harrell. Lisa is a Denver, Colorado native and an alumna of the University of Colorado at Boulder. She developed an early interest in real estate by watching her parents found and grow their own successful residential real estate brokerage in Colorado.
In the summer of 2022, Lisa and her family (husband and fellow Heyday Principal, Baker Harrell, and their two girls, Violet and Charlie) moved to Lakewood, Colorado, where they are based while they finish building their custom home in Morrison, Colorado. After practicing real estate in Austin, Texas for nearly 20 years, Lisa is excited to bring her expertise to her home state and serve her many friends and family connections across Colorado.
While Lisa builds Heyday’s practice in Colorado, fellow Principal Agent Meredith Alderson will continue to lead our award-winning Austin team.

Key Growth Markets
Austin and Colorado share much in common, including rapid population growth and economic expansion in the past decade. Colorado’s population grew by 15 percent in the prior decade, while Austin’s population increased by more than 45% during the same period 1. Not surprisingly, both Austin and Denver, Colorado ranked among the top 10 fastest growing cities in the country last year 2.
Austin and Colorado are also top destinations for many of the same demographic groups. These groups include Millennials, entrepreneurs, tech workers, changemakers, artists, outdoor enthusiasts, and other members of the upwardly mobile, socially conscious “creative class”. In fact, a 2021 study conducted by SmartAsset showed that Texas ranked first and Colorado came in second among the top 10 U.S. states to which Millennials are relocating 3.
There is also significant interstate migration between Austin and Colorado. A 2019 analysis conducted by Stacker revealed that Colorado is the 2nd most common destination for people moving out of Texas. In the same analysis, Texas was shown to be the top destination for people leaving Colorado 4.

Aligned Values + Resilient Economies
A key reason that so many people choose to live in Austin and Colorado is because of their common values and robust economies. Coloradans and Austinties both cherish their many natural amenities – from Ladybird Lake and Mount Bonnell to the Garden of the Gods and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. They also share a commitment to economic and social progress and to supporting the arts.
Because Colorado and Austin are such in-demand destinations for many of our country’s best and brightest, it is no wonder that their economies remain so strong. Colorado and Austin’s economies include many of the same industries, including tech, aerospace, defense, bio/life sciences and healthcare, financial services, education, and law. US News’ most recent state rankings rated Colorado as the top state for job seekers and the 2nd strongest state economy 5.
Opportunity for Greater Impact
With the explosive economic and population growth that Colorado and Austin have recently experienced, a commensurate, dramatic increase in home prices and rent rates in both markets have occurred. Through the Heyday Gives program and our exclusive partnership with Affordable Central Texas (ACT) – a first-of-its-kind nonprofit organization working to increase access to affordable housing among Austin’s essential workers and their families – we now have the ability to help scale our social mission of housing affordability to Colorado. We are eager to connect with other high performing social organizations in Colorado and to help cross-pollinate best practices among our nonprofit partners in both markets.
